Scaled ingredients
Check taste and baking chemistry when scaling a recipe substantially. Spices, leavening, and cooking time may need adjustment.
QUICK KITCHEN MATH / 04
Measure twice.
Cook once.
Convert common volume or weight units. Cups are converted to milliliters, never directly to grams; ingredient density changes that calculation.
GOOD TO KNOW / 05
Helpful little answers.
How do I scale a recipe?
Enter the recipe's original number of servings and how many you need. Add each ingredient's amount, unit, and name. Portionary multiplies quantities by the servings ratio.
Can I use fractions in ingredient amounts?
Yes. Enter amounts such as 1/2, 1 1/2, 1½, or a decimal. Results use familiar fractions when the value is close to a common kitchen fraction.
Should I scale cooking time too?
No automatic cooking-time rule is reliable. Pan size, depth, oven load, and the recipe itself affect cooking time. Check the food as it cooks.
Does my recipe get uploaded?
No. Scaling and conversions run in this browser. The page has no account, analytics, or upload endpoint.
